These immersive small group tours to Myanmar, Bhutan, Iran, Turkey and Ethiopia – some of the world’s most captivating destinations – are packed with meaningful experiences, and offer some of the best holiday deals I’ve spotted in a while. But you need to hurry.
These immersive small group tours to Myanmar, Bhutan, Iran, Turkey and Ethiopia take in Myanmar’s majestic temples of Bagan, Bhutan’s Tiger’s Nest monastery perched on a cliff 900 metres above Paro Valley, Iran’s tranquil palaces and lush gardens, Ethiopia’s rock-hewn churches, monasteries and castles, and Turkey’s lunar-like landscape of Cappadocia, above.
Updated 18 January: The Turkey tour package is on offer again for 3 days!
I love independent travel, but it’s hard to beat immersive small group tours hosted by expert local guides focused on history, archaeology, culture, cuisine, and everyday life – the kinds of things I concentrate on the Indochina trips I occasionally host myself. A well-structured, curated trip, packed with learning opportunities, is what experiential travel is all about.
These immersive small group tours to Myanmar, Bhutan, Iran, Turkey and Ethiopia are centred on exactly those sorts of meaningful experiences with excursions to ancient archaeological ruins, historical monuments, and cultural sights, are punctuated by authentic meals and culinary experiences, from a Shan lunch on a rice barge on Inle Lake to a traditional Ethiopian cooking class.
These tours are only available through Luxury Escapes, a rapidly growing global travel company, based out of Australia, which offers the best holiday deals around on carefully curated tours with hand-picked hotels and fantastic accommodation packages. They promise the lowest prices on earth and a best price guarantee, which means if you find a lower price elsewhere for the same package, they’ll match it.
On some tours and hotel deals – not all; you need to check the fine print on their site – they also offer a ‘buy now, book later’ option so you can grab the offer while it’s available and choose dates late, ‘no questions asked’ refunds, and 12-month interest free purchase with some credit cards. But make sure you read the fine print as these aren’t available on all deals.
The trick is that you really need to get in grab the offer while you can, as they don’t last long. Having said that, if you do miss out on a deal you had your eye on, check back on the site after the date the offer was due to end, as they often extend offers!
All of the offers below can be found by browsing the ‘tours’ page here on Luxury Escapes.

Hi Lara!
I couldn’t find a link to TRANQUIL RIVER CRUISE so I googled this and Myanmar, but found no such co.
Could you please send me the link and advise the single supplement?
Also, I emailed you 3 times about a subsequent Cao Lau noodles storage question, but never receive a reply.
Kind regards,
Bob
Hi Bob
Re the tranquil river cruise, it’s part of that Myanmar trip – it’s a package and that paragraph is describing the whole trip. You just need to click on the Luxury Escapes link and you’ll find all the trips there I described. If Myanmar has disappeared already then that means they sold out. As I say in the intro, the offers are only available for a short period, which is why they’re such great value, so people need to book quickly. With a lot of the Luxury Escapes deals, you can buy and then book dates later – sometimes they give you a whole year to book by, but each offer is different. I’ll check and see if Myanmar is available.
Re your Cao Lau questions, I responded to 4 emails of your emails and you responded to those. Are you saying you sent a further 3 emails? They may have gone to junk/spam, I’ll check. I’ve been travelling a lot, on trips for stories and hosting tours, so may have overlooked them. It’s better to leave questions here on the site, as they’ll get answered faster – if I’m not at my desk, then Terence will respond – and all our readers can benefit :) I’ll check and email, but perhaps leave any further questions re Cao Lau noodle storage on that Cao Lau page, as others might find that useful too. Thank you!
