WHEN TO GO

Feb-July The dry season of Hoi An will see maximum temeratures creep up from 25ºC to 33ºC in July with changes coming in September.
Sep-Jan The start of the annual monsoon during September can bring heavy rain and if it starts early, the town may flood in October and November. Spectacular, but not so convenient for visitors until around December.

HEALTH

While there is a Hoi An Hospital, any serious injury (such as a broken limb or heart problems) and you’ll be heading for Danang, (45mins, 30km), a good reason to book extensive health insurance. A bout of stomach illness is not uncommon (take Imodium or similar) or sunburn may be your main worry. Do take these recommended vaccinations

Most travellers arrive in Hoi An via a flight from Danang Airport from Saigon or Hanoi. Danang is 30km north of Hoi An and a taxi takes around 45mins. It’s easiest to get your hotel in Hoi An to organise a transfer which should be around US$20 maximum. Getting around Hoi An is mainly on foot, but you can take a bike or taxi to the beach.
