TRANSPORTATION

AIR/LAND/SEA

Saigon’s international airport is Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN), 6 km north of the centre. Taxi fares to District 1 should be around 150,000 – 170,000 VND (US$6-8) plus the extra 10,000 VND (US$0.50) airport surcharge. If they want to negotiate and not use the meter, start negotiations at 150,000 VND. These taxi drivers are notorious for overcharging, telling you your hotel is closed, and just dropping you off randomly in District 1. Getting around only use Mai Linh taxis, both now have booking apps.
