Date Night: Dar Yacout Restaurant

Dar Yacout Restaurant in Marrakech is one of the most romantic and most enchanting in a city that has myriad charming restaurants. It’s a sumptuous address in the medina and one that captivates you as soon as you walk through the doors. It’s ideal for a ‘date night’.

As an evening at Dar Yacout Restaurant is such a special experience, we thought we’d do this post a little differently. Let us know what you think in the comments.

  1. The place truly looks amazing. I love the pictures. They are so beautiful and capture the atmosphere of that place. Look so magical.

  2. The imagery and music in the review is wonderful. Makes you feel like you have been transported to Morocco for a few minutes. The post is a great idea and I look forward to seeing what other romantic spots you turn up on your travels.

  3. Thanks so much Jessica! I really just felt that a long descriptive review would not be as engaging as this presentation. We have plenty more ideas like these that we’d like to do during the year, so stay tuned!

  4. I heard so many good things about Dar Yarcout – THE restaurant in Marrakech. Sadly, it was a bit over our budget, but perhaps next time we’re in Marrakech (we WILL be back), we would set aside some $$$ for a nice dinner here.

  5. What a wonderful place to visit – it does sound so romantic. I love your presentation, especially the music which really brings it to life.

This slide show looks very slick compared to some others I’ve seen, half way between video and photos. May I ask what software you’re using to create the slide show? It would also be great if you can get it onto the page rather than via a link, so it can be seen immediately.

  6. Hi Heather, thanks for your kind words!
There are many kinds of software to do this with that I’ve been playing with. Can;t really recommend anything yet.
It’s considered bad manners to have a rather large presentation in Flash load up when you hit the page, hence throwing it out to another window. I’d rather have people *choose* to watch it rather than have it chew up bandwidth without asking permission first!
    Cheers,

  7. I know you’ll be back, I hear there are some gorgeous doors waiting for you! Yes, it’s not cheap, but (so far) it’s been the best experience of that kind here in Marrakech, worth putting some cash aside for. Still a couple of nights to go though – and the house-made tagine here is smelling fantastic!

  8. Can’t wait for more Date Night posts. And yup, I am still dreaming of antique Moroccan doors :) Next time we plan for Marrakech, we’ll be sure to check out Home Away’s arsenal of riads.
