Berlin Wall East Side Gallery

After ‘walking the Wall’ I had to go take a look at the breathtaking art on the Berlin Wall East Side Gallery.

This 1.3 km-long section of the wall running by the River Spree between Oberbaum Bridge and the Ostbahnhof is a memorial to freedom, boasting some 100-odd murals by artists from around the world on the theme of humanity, peace, and hope.

The paintings were created soon after the Wall came down in 1989, when hundreds of artists gathered together to transform a side of the Wall that had been untouched until then.

A wander along the Berlin Wall East Side Gallery is definitely worth an hour of your time.

See for information about the artists.

I love these shots! I’ve met really cool people from Berlin and watched a show on it and I’ve been feeling the desire to go there sometime soon. Your Berlin posts are convincing me even more that I should!

Thank you! We met some amazing people there too. It’s an incredible city, you really should try and get there. It’s fairly affordable for a European city too.

Great photos! I like art, but especially when it’s publicly displayed for everyone to enjoy, since a lot of people don’t get to art galleries all that often.
